Samantha The Reader is a blog that is centered around my love of books and reading. This site will be a place where I can share my favorite books, write reviews, and express my thoughts; however, the goal is for it to be so much more than just a book blog. I want to share my writing such as short stories, books, and poetry. There will also be TV and movie reviews along with random thoughts. Reading, writing, and history are my biggest passions. They keep me quite entertained!
I have such a great love for classical writers such as Edgar Allan Poe, Lucy Maud Montgomery, Bram Stoker, The Bronte Sisters, Victor Hugo, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, and many more! Their works will be regularly shared and analyzed. I have developed a true fondness of classical literature over last few years. Readers can find these post in our Time Honored section of the blog.
Books are truly amazing and the blogs I have created are to express those values. I run a history website called The Historical Diaries and the two blogs will often crossover. They will be connected frequently as time goes on. I adore writing fiction and non-fiction. Both writing styles intrigue me and make it very satisfying to be running two websites. The blogging community has proven to be amazing! I hope everyone can share their love of reading on this site. Please enjoy this journey with us! ♥

Truth be told there’s a fair bit coming, just depends on time.
I’ve been out of the game for a couple of years with a fairly large following but an accident lead to me coming away from it all. Writers and collaborators drifted away but the stories and poetry kept coming. I appreciate the kind words, truly – so thank you.
Maybe soon you’ll see some of my projects like ‘Morningstar’, ‘There At The Edge Of The Woods’ and the ‘Eternal’ serial begin to materialize.
All the best 🙂

Hi Samantha,
I am so sorry for your loss. It is very sad. I hope you find strength in your loved ones.
Thank you for following my blog. Yesterday, I wrote my first blog post and you are my blog’s first follower. I am also glad to have found your blog, looks interesting. Huge bibliophile, but, have never read anything by Edgar Allan Poe. But, plan to do so now.
Looking forward to reading your blog.
Good Day!

Thank you for the ‘Following*’ over at the Writers Club.
You’ve built yourself quite the place here, and will agree with the others (above), word wrangle sure can be fun
Feel free to stop by ‘the clubhouse’ anytime you’re in the mood for scribbling on the walls, we have crayolas of the most complete variety… stream-of-consciousness not only allowed, it’s preferred, SOC is totally the lingua franca in Hobbomock.*
* the small town created for a Y/A series-to-be, wordpress decided it was to be my url, (’cause ‘the Writers Club’ address was claimed, like, back in 1999.) In any event the Club is there an almost all are welcome.

My wife of almost 40 years died in 2010 and my mother in 2015. I was blessed to be with each when they did. True, the loss remains, but so does the firm knowledge that they are still with me every day. I draw on their love still. I hope that you can, too.

The day she died–we knew it was coming, but not that day!–my mother finally told me, on the phone, how much she loved my books and that I ought to be proud of them. I treasure that.

I don’t think knowing beforehand really makes it any easier to cope with. I am glad you got to that. The last conversation I had the phone with my mom the night she died ended with us laughing at each other, and me saying talk to you later, love you, so I am really grateful the last thing I said was love you

Everyone is different but I find for myself that reading and writing can be two of the most therapeutic things to do, especially when things are really rough. You have suffered a tremendous, forty-seven is so young. Its good that you have chosen to express yourself here. May peace and joy be yours on this journey.

How you found your way to my out of the way blog site is a mystery. But I am delighted you did, I am impressed with your reading list, my favourites being: the Bronte Sisters. Losing your mum at such a young age is horrible and you have my sympathy but remember there is a lot of her in you and so she will always be close – sounds stupid but it helped when my own mum passed. It still hurts but a little less with every passing year and oddly enough we remember more of the good times we shared as time moves on.

Not stupid at all Maria. I agree and always try to remember the best of what she was and the time I had with her. Thank you! ❤

So sad to hear of your loss, Samantha. It hits close to home for me as I am 47 years old. Given your literary tastes, I reckon I’ll like a lot of what I see here. A few weeks ago, I wrote a poem inspired by, among other things, “The Raven”, an homage to Poe. If you’re interested, you can find it in my post, “Rewarding With a ReBlog” here:

Thank you for reading.
